Party planning made easy? Fun in a box? How did it begin??
I’m Lindsay, an event organiser by career, thriving on a fast-paced life of problem solving and people-pleasing. Putting my heart and soul into creating safe and memorable events for the public under the name Floor 3 Events. Based in the UK, I ran my own events and also freelanced at some of the biggest festivals, sporting events and exhibitions in the world. I loved my job; it may have been operationally, physically and mentally tough sometimes but it was worth it! Then in 2020 a pandemic swept across the world and destroyed the UK events industry…
The Next Step.
Slowly the pandemic ruined my livelihood- just as it ruined many others. Firstly I had to cancel events I was running myself, as they were close to the start of the first lockdown. Then the news broke of the Glastonbury 2020 cancellation. This triggered a knock-on effect of most of the other summer festivals postponing until 2021 in the UK, followed by global events. I lost money from my event cancellation (no insurance would cover a pandemic) and had no future work booked. Due to various reasons I couldn’t claim furlough pay or grants to help either. I felt lost. Luckily an old contact asked me to jump in on a homeless feeding project that sprung up out of the virus. I gladly relished using my skills to help do something worthwhile. The ‘few weeks and let’s see how it goes’ turned into nearly a year…
Fun. In a Box?
Lockdowns came and went but there was always a niggling feeling that I was missing something. Whilst my role of keeping the homeless fed was absolutely worthwhile, the project was pretty much running itself without my input any longer. I missed the buzz of pulling together an experience under pressure. Events weren’t coming back for a long time but I yearned to have some involvement again. That’s where the idea of Funboxed began to take shape…
Out of adversity comes opportunity

As event planners, we can pull together a spectacle out of our backsides- we’re used to it! Just as lawyers know their way around the law, bankers know everything there is to know about cash and nurses save lives. For us it’s easy, but for someone who hasn’t done it before, planning a party can be pretty stressful! That’s when I decided that Funboxed needed to make party and events planning easy for all. Especially for those who have been stuck at home for the past year and want to celebrate their new-found freedoms with their loved ones.
The first launch is the set of festival boxes, designed to be easy for you to run your own festival at home. They contain decor, fun bits, suggestions for recipes, games and music to make setting up an enjoyable experience. So you can just focus on connecting with people again.
Hopefully this is the start of something big… 🙂
