How to Create a Festival Look: Glitter & Tattoos
Glitter… It gets everywhere and you’ll find it 5 days later even after several showers and outfit changes! But it’s a staple of festival life and adds so much life to your party. Temporary tattoos are not only easy to apply but also create a real fun festival element for your guests. Read below for some top tips on how to create a festival look…
Glitter Makes You Fitter!
How to create a festival look for your party at home? To start, a good glitter glue gel is your best investment. We trialled loads but found the best was PaintGlow’s Glitter Fix Me Up Gel. It lasts all day and once set you can touch these parts and the glitter doesn’t flake off. One tube will do lots of faces!
For those a bit more ‘reluctant’ to be ‘glittered’, a splash of glitter on the cheeks gets everyone involved yet is still quick and easy. Dab a small blob of the gel over one cheekbone and spread around the area you want to glitter. To keep it quick- choose one colour and thoroughly smother the gel area with glitter, and it will set in a few minutes.
You can use the same technique but with multi-colours to create a more artistic approach. Use a darker tone in the middle and a lighter tone for the edges. Keep to the same colour palette for a classier look, or mix colours for a bright and fun vibe!
The glitter works well on cheekbones, but for the more daring, go up through to the temples and over the top of the eyebrow. You can add a couple of face gems under the eyes and above the eyebrow too for a finished look. If you’ve got bare shoulders, a thin layer of glitter over the neck and shoulders makes the area pop for a good photo!
How to Create a Festival Look with Temporary Tattoos
The beauty of these is that they come in many designs and colours to suit all tastes. Bigger can be better on open spaces such as upper arms and the back of your hand. The smaller areas such as face and fingers suit the smaller styles. Layer them up for maximum impact! The long patterned ones can be used as bracelets or anklets, or even around the upper arm for a cute trendy look.
To apply, simply cut around the style you want and peel off the transparent layer. Press the tattoo face down on to the area you want to transfer. You need to wet the area thoroughly with a sponge or cloth, but make sure you keep the tattoo still as you do it otherwise it’ll slide. Once wet, press down with a warm hand on the area and warm gently for around 30 seconds, taking care not to move the tattoo! When you peel off the backing, do it slowly so you can see if the tattoo stays on the skin. If it starts to lift, stick back down and repeat the process again. Once dried, they can last a day or 2 with gentle washing.
To remove both the tattoos and glitter, the easiest way is with an oil based cleanser- they’ll rub right off. We can’t promise you won’t find glitter in strange places for days afterwards though! Don’t forget to share your festival looks with us on our socials @funboxedshop!
